A tribute to Craig Cooper a wonderful mentor who died today 21/10/14 after a courageous battle with Cancer.
Those who have been part of Rally Wairarapa since our reincarnation in 2003 will remember Craig in his role as MC of welcome functions. What many of you may not realise is that Craig was our first introduction to the long and loyal association we have with Trust House. His role there was Community Support Manager a role that saw him involved in just about every aspect of community life throughout the Wairarapa.
From an Events perspective the famed Golden Shears, an iconic annual attraction in Masterton and our own annual tour of the district saw Craig enthusiastically perform his love of public speaking to ensure that all people felt the warmth that his community had to offer.
From a professional perspective Craig was one of the most outstanding Mentors I have worked with. His passion for his community gave him an ability to identify events that would enhance the district by having Trust House on board and his encouragement to justify his faith knew no bounds. His introductions, procedural advice and example of relationship building made him a very special Man.
To Alix and Craig’s Family we express our most heartfelt sympathy as you come to terms with what has been such a cruel time for you all. Craig’s interest in those things dear to him was apparent to the end, his delight of the birth of his 1st Granddaughter Ruby possibly the greatest milestone he managed to achieve, a milestone he proudly boasted in pictures at my visit last Wednesday.
Craig Cooper will be sadly missed by a community who was so lucky to have him as a true Mentor.
Rest peacefully Craig
